The Joy of Simplicity

Living in Thailand has changed the way I look at life. Things feel more simple here, and that simplicity brings a kind of happiness I didn’t really experience before.

Life is less about what you own and more about how you spend your time. At Noi’s house, where she lives together with others, there’s always a sense of connection. People talk, share food, and just live together in a way that feels natural. It’s different from the Netherlands, where life can sometimes feel more individual and focused on achievement.

Here, it’s not about having more. It’s about enjoying what’s already there.

Today was another quiet day, exactly how I like it. Noi cooked, and like always, it was good. She made Som Tam, one of my favorites. It’s simple food, but full of flavor. Meals here are not rushed. You sit, eat, talk, and just enjoy the moment.

The weather is warm, sometimes a bit too warm, but you get used to it. And honestly, it’s a fair trade. Sunshine almost every day, people smiling, and a slower pace of life.

What stands out most is how calm everything feels. No constant pressure, no need to chase something all the time. Just living day by day.

Being here made me realize how different life can be when you slow things down. It doesn’t mean one way is better than the other, but this way fits me right now.

And for now, this is exactly where I want to be.
