Exploring Koh Samet by Scooter. Rain, Viewpoints and Local Food

The second day on Koh Samet started a bit slow.

After a rough night, we didn’t feel fully rested, but breakfast helped. Sometimes that’s all you need to reset and get going again.

We decided to rent a scooter for a couple of days. On an island like Koh Samet, it just makes sense. Everything is close, and you’re free to stop wherever you want.

Once we had the scooter, we just started riding. No strict plan.

The weather wasn’t stable. Clear one moment, then suddenly heavy rain. One of those tropical patterns where you don’t really try to predict it anymore.

At first, we tried to avoid it.

After a while, we just accepted it.

Riding through short rain showers actually adds something to the experience. You get wet, then dry again quickly because of the heat. It becomes part of the day.

We stopped at a few viewpoints along the way. Those are always worth it.

Looking out over the island, you see how small it really is. Green hills, beaches, and the sea surrounding everything. Simple, but impressive.

We also visited a couple of beaches. Some busier, some quieter. Park the scooter, walk a bit, touch the water, and move on again.

That’s the rhythm of the day.

The highlight came when we found a small local restaurant.

Not planned, just one of those places you stop at because it feels right. Simple setup, local people, no tourist menu.

The food was easily the best we had on the island so far. Fresh, full of flavor, and priced normally. Big difference compared to the resort.

After that, the energy dropped a bit.

Noi was still not fully recovered, so we decided to head back. Sometimes you just adjust the plan and take it easy.

Back at the resort, we rested for a while before going out again in the evening.

This time, we chose another local place instead of eating at the resort. Again, better food, better price, and just a better experience overall.

By the end of the day, we kept it simple. No late night, just rest.

Looking back, it was a good day. Not perfect, but real.

Scooter, rain, viewpoints, and good food.

That’s enough.
