Day Trip to Buddha Mountain. Exploring Khao Chi Chan by Motorbike

Today we decided to get out of Pattaya for a bit and take the motorbike. No rush, just a simple plan to head towards Khao Chi Chan, also known as Buddha Mountain.

We started from Jomtien in the morning. The traffic was still manageable, and once you get out of the city, everything changes quickly. Less buildings, more open space, and a completely different atmosphere.

The ride itself is already part of the experience. Small roads, local houses, greenery, and a slower pace. You see more of how people actually live outside the tourist areas.

Along the way, we passed an elephant farm and stopped for a bit. Seeing them up close always makes you pause for a moment. Big, calm, and impressive in their own way.

Not much further, we stopped at a small temple. Quiet, almost empty. Noi took some time to pray, especially with the new year period. I stayed outside for a bit, just looking around. Places like that don’t need much. The atmosphere speaks for itself.

When we arrived at Khao Chi Chan, it immediately stood out.

The Buddha image carved into the mountain is huge. You’ve probably seen pictures, but in real life it’s different. The gold lines reflect the sun, and the whole setting is very open and calm.

It’s not a busy place in terms of activity, but people come, walk around, take photos, and just take it in.

We stayed there for a while, walking around and sitting down for a bit. No rush, just enjoying the moment.

What makes this place special is the contrast. It’s not far from Pattaya, but it feels completely different. Quiet, spacious, and more focused.

After some time, we got back on the motorbike and headed back. The ride back felt even more relaxed.

Looking back, it was a simple day trip, but a good one. A mix of riding, small stops, and a place that’s worth seeing at least once.

If you’re staying in Pattaya, this is an easy way to see something different without going too far.
