Chilling by the Lighthouse in Pattaya & A Local Food Stop in Naklua

Some days don’t need a plan to turn out good. This was one of those days. I ended up sitting by the lighthouse in Pattaya, doing nothing special, and somehow it turned into one of those moments you remember.

The day started easy. No real schedule, just the idea to head towards the lighthouse. After moving through the usual busy streets of Pattaya, I reached a quiet spot by the sea. Right next to the lighthouse, there’s a small café. Nothing fancy. Just a few tables, simple setup, but the view says everything.

I grabbed a cold drink and sat down, looking out over the ocean. The sound of the waves hitting the rocks does something to you. It slows everything down. No pressure, no noise from the city, just that steady rhythm of the sea. The lighthouse stands there in the background, calm and solid, like it’s been doing its job forever without asking for attention.

After a while, hunger kicked in. That’s usually the moment we head to Naklua. It’s one of those areas we keep coming back to. Less touristy, more local, and the food never disappoints.

We went to our usual spot. A small place, nothing designed for Instagram, just real food. We ordered papaya salad and grilled chicken, like always. The papaya salad had that strong balance of spicy, sour, and a bit of sweetness. Fresh, crunchy, exactly how it should be. The grilled chicken was smoky, juicy, and full of flavor. Simple food, done right.

What I like about Naklua is the atmosphere. It feels more connected. People know each other, things move at a normal pace, and the food is made with care. You don’t feel like a tourist there, more like you’re just part of the area for a moment.

Looking back, it was a solid day. Nothing complicated. Just time by the sea and good food in a local spot. That combination works every time.

If you’re in Pattaya, take a small detour. Skip the obvious places for a bit. Go sit by the lighthouse, then head to Naklua for food. You’ll understand why.
