Leaving Koh Samet Early. Not the Plan, But Necessary

The third day on Koh Samet didn’t go as planned.

After waking up, it was clear that Noi wasn’t feeling well. Worse than the day before. At that point, continuing the trip didn’t make sense anymore.

After breakfast, we made the decision to leave the island.

Not ideal, but sometimes it’s the only option.

We packed our bags and took a pickup taxi back to the harbor. Everything felt a bit slower than the previous days. Less excitement, more focus on just getting back.

From there, we took a speedboat to the mainland. That part went quickly. About 20 minutes, and we were back at Ban Phe.

Instead of taking the bus again, we chose a taxi. After the cold bus ride on the way in, that was an easy decision. For 800 baht, we had a direct ride to Pattaya, which made things a lot more comfortable.

The drive took around one and a half hours.

Arriving in Naklua felt different this time. Not like the start of something, but more like a reset.

At the condo, there was a small surprise. Balloons and decorations were already there. A simple thing, but it changed the mood a bit. Especially after a rough start to the day.

After settling in, we went out quickly to do some basic things. Laundry first, then something to eat.

Nothing special, just making sure everything was in order.

The rest of the day was quiet.

No plans, no exploring. Just staying in and letting Noi rest.

It wasn’t the kind of day you expect when you’re traveling, but it’s part of it. Things don’t always go as planned.

Looking back, leaving Koh Samet early wasn’t what we wanted, but it was the right choice.

Now it’s about slowing down and recovering before continuing again.
