Second Day in Thailand. Wat Pho, Rain and Exploring Bangkok

Waking up on the second day in Thailand feels different from the first. You’re more settled, a bit more adjusted, and everything starts to feel more normal.

Starting the day next to Noi makes that even better.

We took it easy in the morning. Shower, breakfast at the hotel, nothing rushed. Just getting ready for the day ahead.

Our plan was simple. Visit Wat Pho.

We took a taxi into the city. Traffic as expected, busy but moving. The closer you get to the old part of Bangkok, the more you notice the difference. More temples, more tourists, but also more character.

Arriving at Wat Pho, it immediately feels different from the streets outside. More calm, more space, and a slower pace.

Walking through the temple grounds, there’s a lot to take in. Buildings, details, colors, everything well maintained and full of history.

Then you enter the hall with the reclining Buddha.

That’s the moment that stands out.

The statue is huge. Much bigger than you expect. Covered in gold, stretching across the entire space. You can’t really capture it in one photo. You just have to walk along it and take it in piece by piece.

While we were inside, the weather suddenly changed.

Rain started coming down hard. Typical tropical rain. Fast and heavy.

Instead of being outside, we were inside the temple hall, just watching it happen. The sound of rain on the roof, combined with the quiet inside, created a completely different atmosphere.

That moment made the visit better.

No rush, no crowds moving quickly. Just staying there a bit longer than planned.

Once the rain slowed down, we went back outside and walked around a bit more before heading out.

After that, we found a small place nearby to eat. Simple Thai food again. Nothing fancy, but good.

Back in the evening, we were around Sukhumvit again. Walking, looking for food, and ending the day with another local meal.

Later that night, the rain came back. This time even heavier. One of those storms where everything stops for a moment. Loud, intense, and over just as quickly as it started.

Looking back, it was a full day. Temple visit, rain, food, and just moving through the city.

A good second day.
