Traveling to Thailand for Songkran. Second Trip and Flight to Bangkok

Today was the start of my second trip to Thailand. This time, the timing made it different. Songkran was coming up, and I knew the whole atmosphere would be on another level.

And of course, I was looking forward to seeing Noi again.

Packing felt easier this time. Less thinking, more routine. You already know what you need, what you don’t, and how the trip usually goes. Still, there’s always that small feeling of excitement when everything is ready and you’re about to leave.

I left on Easter Sunday and took the train to Schiphol. Surprisingly, the airport was quiet. Not what you expect for a holiday period.

Security was fast. Within about 15 minutes, I was already through. One of those moments where everything just works smoothly.

Then came the delay.

The KLM flight to Bangkok was pushed back by about an hour and a half. Not ideal, but also not the worst. Still, once you’re waiting at the gate, time feels slower than it actually is.

You walk around a bit, check your phone, sit down again, and keep an eye on the boarding time.

Eventually, boarding started, and that’s always the moment where it feels real again. Sitting in the plane, everything resets. The waiting is over, and the trip actually begins.

This time I chose a direct flight, which makes a big difference. No stress about connections, no rushing through airports. Just one long flight and you’re there.

As the plane took off, I had a moment to think about what was ahead. Songkran, the heat, the energy, and everything that comes with it.

And of course, being back in Thailand again.

It’s not just about the destination anymore. It’s about the whole experience. The travel, the moments in between, and everything that happens along the way.

Now it’s just a matter of time.

Next stop, Bangkok.
